The system begins with research-based lifestyle questionnaires to help you assess your needs and address stressors or behaviors that might be preventing you from taking the best possible care of yourself.

Educational content
Physical activity, eating habits, mood and sleep have an effect on living with diabetes. Learning how to care for yourself with Blossom’s educational content gives you the information you need to live the healthier lifestyle you want – on your own time and at your own pace.

Keeping track of everything has never been simpler. Blossom has everything you need to stay organized, all in one place and in one seamless solution. You can enter data manually, or connect your Apple® HealthKit®, GoogleFit® or Fitbit®.

Blossom adapts to your needs and preferences and gives you access to the health management tools you need in the way that is best for you. For some, that means help with losing weight through building habits and regular tracking from a mobile device. For others, it means an accessible personal coach at the ready to counsel you through a food craving. Blossom is available at home or on the go. From a tablet, mobile phone or from a computer. Anytime that’s convenient for you.

Dr. Rita Kalyani is the Medical Director of the Blossom Diabetes Management program. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a nationally-recognized thought leader, clinician and researcher in diabetes who is dedicated to improving the health of diverse populations.

Dr. Kalyani graduated with an undergraduate degree from Harvard College and completed all of her medical training at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Kalyani’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and focuses on diabetes and aging. Dr. Kalyani previously chaired the American Diabetes Association’s clinical guidelines committee. She has also been appointed to committees for the Endocrine Society, American College of Physicians and American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Kalyani currently serves as President of the American Diabetes Association’s Maryland Community Leadership Board of Directors and is passionate about heightening awareness of diabetes and its complications in the community. Dr. Kalyani was named one of “Maryland’s Top 100 Women” for 2017.

Marissa Alert, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist who brings several years of experience in health behavior change research and the delivery of evidence-based interventions to Solutions. Dr. Alert received her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Miami. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and her post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Dartmouth College.

Dr. Alert is passionate about helping people improve their health habits and overcome barriers to live a life that’s in line with their values. She has extensive experience promoting healthy behavior change to optimize health outcomes and disease management. As a clinical product expert, she enjoys developing digital programs that are accessible, engaging and support individuals in improving their health and well-being.
